Who Dunnit? The Mousetrap did!

The Mousetrap has officially cracked the case in what it takes to become the West End's longest-running show, celebrating a Guinness World Record-breaking 30,000 performances on 20 March 2025. Leaving audiences guessing for over seven decades, it's a milestone so big even Miss Marple would raise an eyebrow!

A Mousetrap History

The queen of all things crime Agatha Christie came along in 1952 with a clever little radio play called Three Blind Mice to celebrate Queen Mary's 80th Birthday. Later, the project would be expanded into a full-stage play at the Ambassadors Theatre, becoming the murder mystery we know and love today.

The show found its home at St. Martin's Theatre in 1974, and since then, has used over 28,000 prop weapons, has seen more than 450 actors take to the story, and has had over 10 million people trying to solve the mystery. Its famous twist remains one of theatre's best-kept secrets, so if you see the show, don't spill the beans!

What's the Story?

Set in the newly opened Monkswell Manor, The Mousetrap follows a group of strangers snowed in at a remote guesthouse - and one of them is a killer. As the snow piles up outside, the tension rises inside as Detective Sergeant Trotter arrives to investigate a murder that's already taken place - and prevent another from happening. Everyone's a suspect: the newlyweds who run the house, the mysterious guest with a murky past, the eccentric architect, the uptight spinster, and the retired army major. Secrets unravel, accusations fly, and as the body count rises, the question remains: who's the murderer - and why?
