The Play That Goes Wrong To Get Own TV Show!

Author News DeskNews Desk, February 22nd, 2019

Currently playing at the Duchess Theatre.

Mischief Theatre, the group behind The Play That Goes Wrong and A Comedy About A Bank Robbery have announced that they are creating a brand new six-part series with the BBC.

Entitled The Goes Wrong Show, the brand new series will feature original Mischief Theatre members, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields. Following The Cornley Drama Society (the hapless actors from The Play That Goes Wrong), The Goes Wrong Show will see its members take on ambitious new, and equally as disastrous, projects. which will be filmed in front of a live studio audience.

The Play That Goes Wrong originally opened in the West End back in 2014 and has gone onto win an Olivier award as well as a Tony-winning run on Broadway.

Catch the original production at the Duchess Theatre through to October 27.

What is The Play That Goes Wrong About?

After benefiting from a large and sudden inheritance, the inept and accident prone Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society attempt to put on a 1920s murder mystery play in the West End. But as the hopeless thesps discover to their horror, everything that could go pear-shaped, does, with hilarious consequences. Corpses that can't lie still, props which disappear and reappear at the wrong time and a set that is literally falling apart will all ring true to any amateur performers out there (although hopefully, not quite to this degree). Couple all this with a Butler whose talent for garbling simple phrases is rivalled only by Fawlty Towers' Manuel and you have a production which probably won't be up for any Olivier Awards anytime soon...
