Just For One Day

Just For One Day at Shaftesbury Theatre

Why see Just For One Day?

West End Transfer!

We can be us, just for one day

The enduring appeal of Live Aid will be tapped once more as this new Olivier-nominated jukebox musical transfers to to the Shaftesbury Theatre after a sell out run at the Old Vic. Just For One Day gives audiences a look behind the scenes of the auspicious event and features a soundtrack by Matt Brind that covers the day's biggest artists, including Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, U2, The Boomtown Rats, Diana Ross and many, many more.

Written by John O'Farrel (Mrs Doutfire) and directed by Luke Sheppard (&Juliet) Just For One Day also contributes to the Band Aid Trust's mission, with 10% of every ticket sale going to their ongoing charitable work, both globally and here at home.

July 13th, 1985

With thousands packed into Wembley Stadium, and across the pond in Philadelphia's JFK Stadium, and millions more tuning in on TV or Radio, this sunny summer day became one of the most incredible in music history. 70 artists took to both stages across 16 hours, playing their hits, raising an incredible 127,000,000 (nearly 5m in today's money) for charity. Those old enough to remember (and maybe even lucky enough to be there) will always remember it, and for those younger, the day's historical significance has been explored in movies and TV, most recently as the last brilliant 10 minutes of the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Just for one day .....what a show

We purchased tickets for a preview show. We had seats in the front row of the circle. These were side view seats and we couldn't see the stage directly under us but it didn't matter one bit. Generally, all that was happening was dialogue and not necessarily action. The music was fantastic with so much energy being generated from every member of the cast. We did not stop tapping our toes and clapping our hands along with the music. WE LOVED IT FROM START TO END. What a great reminder of a great day back in 1985 ... Read more

Perfect

The message here is that ordinary people ( the public) have the ability to make a real difference in the face of adversity. Helped in no small way by Geldofs anarcic personality . You will laugh and cry. This is fantastically well-made with a great sound and a great message. Be sure you see this. ... Read more

Absolutely Fantastic

Don't be put off by the critics. This show is bloody great. All the cast can sing and dance. The band is on stage all the time and add brilliantly to the atmosphere. There is a very clever song between "Mrs Thatcher" and "Mr Geldoff" (Mrs T and Mr G). All the other songs are belted out. No plot - doesn't matter, any more than it matters in Mama Mia. The standard of musical theatre in London is second to none. This show can stand proud in the pantheon. I LOVED IT. GO AND SEE IT ... Read more
