Titus Andronicus

Titus Andronicus at Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

Why see Titus Andronicus?

Shakespeare's bloodiest tragedy

Things are about to get darker than usual at the candle-lit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse as it hosts its first production of this famously bloody offering from The Bard. Directed by Jude Christian expect theatrical fireworks as the Roman General Titus Andronicus returns from one war abroad to start another far deadlier one at home.

What is the story?

Titus Andronicus returns from a 10-year war where he lost 21 sons. Feeling betrayed by his nation and his family in tatters, Titus embarks on a violent cycle of revenge with Tamora, Queen of the Goths. Rape, cannibalism, mutilation and murder ensue making it one of Shakespeare's bloodiest and most memorable plays.
