Fresh from the Open Air Theatre
Fresh from its sell-out 2011 run at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, this triumphant adaptation of William Golding's seminal masterpiece embarks on a UK tour, created by Nigel Williams. The story follows a group of stranded schoolboys who wind up on a desert island after their plane crashes. What starts out as a thrilling adventure in the wild soon turns into a lethal power struggle as each boy strives to become leader, whatever the cost. Innocent pastimes such as ghost stories, campfires and foraging all take on a deadly edge - who will survive the aftermath? This adaptation of Golding's work explores the conflict between regression and desire to conform to society norms, with stunning special effects and the talents of a young cast.
Taking place during an unspecified war, a plane full of evacuated school boys crash lands on a lush, uninhabited island in the middle of nowhere. As one boy is elected leader by default of gathering the survivors together, they decide to live by three fundamental laws; to hunt, to have fun, and to survive. However infighting starts early as half of the boys split off into a different faction, and superstitions arise from mysterious creatures roaming the island. As the rivalry between the two tribes escalates into paranoia, events take a deadly turn as the boys revert to a primal state and resort to murder in order to survive. But when the chance comes to be rescued, how will they face returning to civilisation?
