People, Places and Things

Why see People, Places and Things?

Emma was having the time of her life. Now she's in Rehab.

Hot from an acclaimed run at the Dorfman, Duncan Macmillan's People, Places and Things moves to Wyndham's for a strictly limited 12 week run. The Dorfman run racked up tremendous acclaim from critics, as well as two Olivier Award wins and four Olivier nominations! Included in the Olivier wins were Best Actress for the highly talented, Denise Gough.

An absorbing drama centred around actress Emma and her attempt to escape dysfunction and addiction in rehab starring Denise Gough, this co-production from The National and Headlong should definitely be on your radar for spring 2016!

What is People, Places and Things about?

Emma is having trouble making it past the first step. Rather than admit she dampens out the problems of the modern world with drink and drugs, she'd rather blame it on everyone else. Unrepentant and raging, she rallies against every attempt at help, until she realises it's up to her to rescue herself. Denise Gough is outstanding as this unpalatable anti-heroine, bowled over by the reach of her own excess and self-deniable. Don't miss this five star performance, as Gough's career is tipped to go stratospheric!

Reviews

Our review

Brilliant, unforgettable, game-changing

A brutal exploration of addition and its place in modern life, People, Places & Things is well-deserving of the praise this daring production it has received and its star, Denise Gough, more than deserving of her recent Olivier win.
