The Duchess

Why see The Duchess?

Jodi's Stage Return

After a decade away from the stage that included flights in the TARDIS and a spell as a resident of Broadchurch, Jodie Whittaker is returning to the West End in Zinnie Harris's contemporary adaptation of John Webster's The Duchess of Malfi.

A Merry Widow She Is Not

As the titular Duchess, Whittaker plays a widow searching for new adventures when she marries a new suitor. But her nuptial joy is shortlived when her avaricious brothers discover his less-than-ideal identity. A battle between a woman's choices in a patriarchal society, don't miss this brand new imagining, dubbed a 'towering adaptation' by The Stage.

Written between 1612 and 1613, The Duchess of Malfi is one of John Webster's most recognised plays. A Jacobean tragedy that begins with romance and ends in bloody revenge, its themes of forced female submission, abuse of power, and class continue to resonate with audiences in today's cultural and political climate.

Please note, Jodi Whittaker is not performing on October 18th and 19th
