A strange new act has arrived at the Stokes Croft Fair, the home of an array of interesting and grotesque characters. Grinpayne and his hideously scarred face soon captures the interests and the hearts of all who see him but, who is this strange creature and how did he become so marked? With the help of an old man, a blind girl and a wolf, Grinpayne must tell his story and confront his dark past.
A re-imagining of the novel 'The Man Who Laughs' by Victor Hugo (Les Miserables), The Grinning Man is a new tragicomic musical brought to life by Carl Grose. A critically acclaimed score by Tim Phillips and Marc Teitler accompanies the on stage action as well as eccentric and beautiful puppetry by the original puppeteers of War Horse, Gyre & Gimble.
After a stellar run at Bristol's Old Vic, The Grinning Man brings its kookiness to London's West End where it will take up residence at the Trafalgar studios from the 5th December. Don't miss the most talked about show of the year!
