Le Grand Mort

Why see Le Grand Mort?

new show

Julian Clary returns to the West End this July in this world premiere from the late Stephen Clark. Written for Clary, Le Grand Mort is a dark comedy with macabre themes that will make use of his ability to juggle sharp wit and acerbic asides as he plays Michael, a man preparing dinner in his modish North London flat with surgeon-like precision. As Michael waxes lyrical about the relative uses of a human body after death whilst slicing up ingredients, we find ourselves fearing for the fate of his anticipated guest.

Clark, the writer behind Love Story was a close friend of Clary's and often spoke of writing something specifically for him. Le Grand Mort was finally penned in 2013 and will now premiere in tribute after Clark's sad death last year at the age of 55.

Fans of Clary will know him from his numerous stage and screen appearances. Le Grand Mort marks his first appearance treading the boards since last year's Cinderella at the London Palladium.
