James Rando's iconic counter-culture ode to youth, love, fear and freedom in the 1960s reaches it's 50th anniversary this year and the Vaults are laying on a birthday bash to remember with this new immersive production from Manchester's Hope Mill Theatre. The true spirit of the musical will be captured throughout the venue with hippietastic pop-up restaurants and bars, wandering beat poets, troubadours and special guests welcoming you to what can only be described as a mini Woodstock.
Set in 1967, Hair is the story of a rag tag group of hippy kids known as The Tribe who haunt the East Village of New York City. In the face of growing unrest both at home and abroad, it is a peon to the age, where young people began to speak out for freedom and liberation, protesting the Vietnam War in a flash of song and colour whilst learning more about themselves in a wild and sexually liberated society. With a score including 'Let The Sunshine In', 'Age of Aquarius' and of course, 'Hair' it's a joyous romp with a message of acceptance that resounds today in our post Trump, Brexit world.

Hair's outrageousness has positioned it somewhere between infamy and greatness. And that's before you even mention the tunes.
