Kiss Me Kate
a lavish and magnificent revival of the Cole Porter clasic
The Stage
Why see Kiss Me Kate?
The London premiere of Opera North'S acclaimed production!
Opera North's acclaimed production about a musical version of Shakespeare's The Taming Of The Shrew makes its London premiere in June 2018. Featuring the company's full orchestra and chorus singing the tunes of Cole Porter, includomg 'Brush Up Your Shakespeare', 'Always True To You In My Fashion' and 'So In Love,'this shrewd musical sticks its tongue firmly in cheek as it saucily mirrors themes and characters from the Bard's original comedy!
It's sexy, saucy and headed to London's Coliseum next summer for a limited 12 performances only, following a much anticipated UK tour in the spring. This acclaimed production is helmed by Jo Davies, and the full-scale orchestra and chorus of Opera North will be conducted by James Holmes with choreography by Will Tuckett.
The scene is set at the out-of-town try-out of a new musical version of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew where sparks fly on stage and off as sparring between the co-stars threatens the opening night. Throw two gun-slinging debt collectors into the mix, and you have a laugh a minute, will-they, won't they set up, where the show may just be scuppered before it opens!
