The Toxic Avenger

Introducing New Jersey's first superhero....Toxie!
Why see The Toxic Avenger?
With 2016 being the year of the superhero movie, what better way to carry this on in the theatre with the UK premiere of a superhero musical! Written by Joe DiPietro with music by David Bryan, this 2008 rock musical from the States is based on the 1984 movie of the same name. Set in the 'wastelands' of Tromaville, New Jersey, we follow an aspiring environmental scientist who is determined to save the town from a toxic gunge that is escaping from the local dump.
However, his efforts haven't gone unnoticed by the corrupt Mayor and her equally unsavoury goons. Determined to get rid of the pesky Melvin, she has him tossed into a vat of the toxic goo - only for him to emerge with superpowers; the Toxic Avenger! With a little help from his friends, Melvin declares war on the Mayor, leading to a massive uprising by the grateful inhabitants. But the price is high, as not everybody will make it to the end. Lauded by the New York press as anarchic fun, this is one musical where you'll want to get your hands dirty!
