Brokeback Mountain

Why see Brokeback Mountain?

world premiere

Annie Proulx's poignant short story finally makes it to the stage in this brand new 'play with songs' adaptation with a Country and Western score by Dan Gillespie Sells, set to be performed live by Eddie Reader and her band. Already famous thanks to Ang Lee's 2005 Oscar-winning movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger, this new stage adaptation promises to breathe new life into the story that broke hearts worldwide and features two of Hollywood's brightest stars making their West End Debuts - Mike Faist and Lucas Hedges.

What is the story?

The scene is set in rural Wyoming in 1963 and follows the trials and tribulations of two young men, Ennis del Mar and Jack Twist, who are hired for the summer to herd and guard sheep at a remote grazing range on the harsh Brokeback Mountain.

With a sullen Ennis perturbed by the more free-spirited Jack, things come to a head on a stormy night when they share a tent, where their burgeoning attraction explodes into passion. Far from being a fleeting affair, the two men maintain a close physical and emotional bond, hidden from the brusque and intolerant farming community, and later on from their respective spouses, leading to a tragic conclusion.

Your heart is on the stage with them!

Snow, radio, beans, gunfire, and a stage full of the rollercoaster ride take your heart to explore the love of our beloved characters. Performances that capture every mood and define the society barriers that hold true love back. Songs that fit so perfectly to the mood and add another later of care in our characters journey. My heart was on stage throughout the performance with them and the intimate theatre was the perfect venue for it to be shared. Brilliant performances that will stay with me for long time. ...
