Sinners Club

Sinners Club at Soho Theatre

Why see Sinners Club?

Romance, jealousy and murder...

Inspired by the story of Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in Great Britain, playwright Lucy Rivers brings you a conceptual gig performance where a band (Bad Mothers) are recording their latest album in front of a live audience. Delve into the short life of Ruth Ellis as well exploring other lives lost to sin...

Who was Ruth Ellis?

Ellis a notorious hostess in London's most elite clubs leaded a life which was plagued with a series of chaotic and short romances with some of the country's wealthiest men. Easter Sunday, 1955 Ruth Ellis shot her lover David Blakely dead outside the The Magdala pub in Hampstead. Giving herself up to the police immediately, Ellis was sentenced to death and was hung, the last to be in Great Britain, in the July of the same year.
