The Taming of The Shrew

The Taming of The Shrew at Shakespeares Globe Theatre

Why see The Taming of The Shrew?

an absurd carnival comes to the globe

Passions run deep in The Taming of the Shrew, returning to the Globe this summer in an uproarious new production from Jude Christopher who makes their Globe debut as a director. One of Shakespeare's most recognisable plays, this marvellous comedy sees warring temperaments between reluctant suitor Petruchio and his even more reluctant intended Katherina reach a fever pitch as they're thrown together by his best friend Luciano in his quest to wed. her much more obliging sister Bianca.

The inspiration behind 90s teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You and much more, don't miss your chance to join in the action!

She will be tam'd so, the story of The Taming of the Shrew

The story of a tempestuous young woman Katerina, and Petruchio, the man charged with becoming her husband by her increasingly exasperated father, 'Shrew encapsulates the struggle of finding a perfect balance between love and hate. As Petruchio enters a seemingly foolish bet with his pal Luciano (who has his eyes on her sister Bianca) to win her Kat's hand, he comes to realise that his tried and tested attentions won't turn this lady. Not to be defeated he sets out to conquer her once and for all, surprising himself when he falls irretrievably in love with her at the same time...
