Why see Legally Blonde?

MULTIPLE AWARD-WINNING SMASH-HIT

Legally Blonde The Musical is a hilarious, sensational and sharply witty romantic comedy. The all singing, all dancing international hit is a modern fairy tale about a dizzy blonde who knows who she is and is determined to show that she is so much more than pink fluff and sparkles.

Directed and choreographed by highly acclaimed Jerry Mitchell, Legally Blonde has won seven major awards including the 2011 Olivier award for Best New Musical and four WhatsOnStage.com awards. Sheridan Smith, who plays the leading role, won the 2011 Olivier award for Best Actress in a Musical.

WHAT IS LEGALLY BLONDE ABOUT?

Homecoming queen Elle Woods is an effervescent ditz who is majoring in 'fashion merchandising'. She is spoilt and superficial, pretty in pink and proud to be a natural blonde. But she knows what she wants and how to get it.

When her boyfriend Warner ends their relationship in favour of someone smarter, more serious and more substantial, Elle sets out to prove he is wrong about her. She follows him to Harvard Law School where she - along with her bejewelled chihuahua Bruiser - is met with many a sceptical eye and derisive comment. But with a little help from her new-found friends, she finds her stride and makes her place, realising that it's better to be bright.

DID YOU KNOW?

After first showing on Broadway, Legally Blonde The Musical first exploded onto the West End's Savoy Theatre in early 2012 where it ran successfully for two years. The Musical is based on Amanda Brown's novel Legally Blonde, from which the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon was made.

Director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell has won numerous awards for Legally Blonde, including Tony and Olivier awards. Other acclaimed works include La Cage Aux Folles, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Catch Me If You Can, Hairspray and The Rocky Horror Show, to mention a few.
