The new drama by E V Crowe
As part of its 2016/17 season, the Royal Court's Jerwood Studio presents a brand-new play by author E V Crowe, taking place in the pre-Industrial Revolution era. When a strange woman arrives in a quiet village with a cottage industry producing small hand-sewn items, at first she seems keen to join the group of sewing women and learn their way of life and craft. However as time goes on, it becomes clear that this stranger has ulterior motives for this little community- and that she is definitely no stranger to the thread and needle.
E V Crowe is a regular artist with the Royal Court who has premiered her previous works here, including 2013's Liar Liar and 2010's kin; both of these works provide an unsettling insight into modern childhood rivalry, jealousy and sexuality, gaining critical acclaim in the process.
