Junkyard

A brand-new coming of age musical from the pen of the Harry Potter "Cursed Child" phenomenon
Why see Junkyard?
A new coming of age tale that's anything but rubbish!
A brand-new musical by BAFTA Award-winning writer Jack Thorne, who was behind the recent West End hit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child head back to Bristol's Seventies with a thrilling coming-of-age story about friendship and standing up for what matters. Co-produced by Headlong, Rose Theatre Kingston, Bristol Old Vic and Theatr Clwyd, we venture back to the strike-filled, rubbish-strewn streets, in a musical that boasts creative talent such as Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck for the new score, and directed by Jeremy Herrin, winner of the Evening Standard Award.
When a willing community leader called Rick decides to build a junk playground for the local children of Bristol, he finds that it will take a lot more than his charisma to get them involved with the worthy project. Fiz, at 13 is hated by her mother, has a pregant older sister and generally feels ennui about her life. So will Rick's ambitious plan be enough for her and her motley crowd of friends to turn their lives around? Or will a dark secret threaten to derail everything they wish for?
