After wowing audiences last year at the off-West End venue, the Young Vic, The Jungle returns to London this summer as it makes its West End transfer. Set in France, The Jungle follows the creation and destruction of the refugee camp in Calais. With many of the original cast returning to perform in its West End run, this is truly a transfer like no other with some cast members even coming through the camp at Calais itself.
In one corrugated cafe, refugees along with aid workers, come together to share their stories. As they discuss their fears, hopes and dreams, even this patch of 'hell on earth' can sometimes feel a little bit like heaven. In this heartfelt, heartbreaking and honest piece we are reminded that the true kindness and love of others is the light in an otherwise dark world.
