Ghost, The Musical

Ghost, The Musical at Piccadilly Theatre

Why see Ghost, The Musical?

GRIPPING AND SPECTACULAR STAGECRAFT!

Conjuring up ghosts and the supernatural on a stage in front of a live audience is no small task, but Ghost the Musical succeeds spectacularly. With the combination of phenomenal staging by Matthew Warchus, brilliant effects by illusionist Paul Kieve and dazzling projections by Jon Driscoll, Ghost the Musical dances across the realms of reality and transcendental, leaving audiences mesmerized.

Drawn from his Oscar-winning 1990s film Ghost, writer Bruce Joel Rubin has adapted the screenplay for stage, retaining all of its engaging qualities: the humour, the romance, malicious money business and the metaphysical. It's an evocative tale about love conquering all and Ghost the Musical dazzles and visually astounds.

WHAT IS GHOST THE MUSICAL ABOUT?

Life seems perfect for Sam and Molly, a young professional couple living in New York, but one night everything changes. When the pair is walking home, Sam is brutally murdered by Carl Bruner, Sam's crooked colleague, a money launder who is responsible for the account discrepancies which Sam has been investigating at work. Leaving shocked and traumatized Molly, Sam is dead but his spirit remains, trapped between the present and the afterlife. He wanders the streets of New York, unable to communicate with his Molly, heartbroken and trying to process his change.

But Molly is in danger and with a renewed sense of urgency, Sam searches for a way to warn her. He encounters Oda Mae Brown, a pseudo-psychic who, accustomed to her artifice, is more than a little startled to hear Sam's voice. He urges her to help him talk to Molly, whose life is on the line.

Don't miss it!!

Both leads have powerful voices, Oda Mae was excellent but this role will always be Whoopi's. Watch out for the subway scenes especially the second one. Very very well done we thoroughly enjoyed the evening. ... Read more
