Beats On Pointe: Masters of Choreography
A spectacular explosion of dance pitting ballet against hip hop
Possible 'cringe' moments are 'owned' and enjoyed by the performers, and their fun, light-hearted exteriors mask an impressive motor in overdrive beneath the surface.

A spectacular explosion of dance pitting ballet against hip hop
Masters of Choreography return to London with their hotly anticipated production of Beats On Pointe after dazzling UK audiences with their bold mash up of genres in 2018. Fusing old school street dance with classical ballet, the Australian dance company injects electric kinetic energy and an overwhelming sense of fun into their two-hour-long, feel good celebration of movement, throwing in freestyle, beatboxing, singing, comedy and a pumping, upbeat soundtrack of classical, 70s, 80s and contemporary music for good measure!
Pitting the seemingly contradictory dance schools, and 16 dancers, against each other, Beats On Pointe cleverly sets up the conflict with a nod to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in the introduction. The technically gifted ensemble cast moves fluid from ballet to hip hop, with each given the chance to shine in break out solo sections and laugh-out-loud moments. The evening culminates in breathtaking 'Montague vs. Capulet' style battle that ramps up the tension and energy for a spectacular release of a finale.
