Based on the autobiographical novel by HG Wells recalling his early days as an overworked apprentice to a draper in Southsea at the turn of the 19th century, Half a Sixpence moves the action to Folkstone where the genial Arthur Kipps dreams of a more satisfying life.

A lifelong orphan, Kipps is more than surprised when he suddenly inherits a massive fortune, changing his life in an instant. No longer sure of his life or his choices, Kipps breaks into high society in search of a place to belong, finding himself torn between the advice of lifelong friend and childhood sweetheart Ann, and the advances of the classy society girl Helen Walsingham. Which will he choose? And does life come down to just making the 'right' choices.
