What is the story of The Grapes of Wrath?

Adapted from the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath tells the story of the Joads, an impoverished family of tenant farmers uprooted from their Oklahoma home during the Great Depression by drought and economic hardship. Faced with nearly unconquerable challenges and driven by a quest for survival, they embark on a journey to California, joining the masses of "Okies" searching for employment, land, and a better future.
