The National Theatre are now working with Disney for its most ambitious project in recent years! Director John Tiffany (Harry Potter And The Cursed Child) will direct a new musical adaptation of Disney's Pinocchio which is set to run over the Christmas period at the Lyttelton Theatre. With music from the beloved 1940 movie including When You Wish Upon A Star, Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide, and I Got No Strings, the show will be written by Enda Walsh, with design by the legendary Bob Crowley (Aladdin, An American In Paris) and choreography provided by Steven Hoggett. The Tony Award-winning writer behind 2013 hit Matilda the Musical, Dennis Kelly, will write the script.
the heart-warming tale that took audiences by storm when it was released by Disney in 1940 takes us on a journey with a magically animated puppet, who yearns one day to become a real boy. Granted a half-life by the benevolent Blue Fairy as a gift to his elderly maker Gepetto, Pinocchio must prove himself to be honest, kind and good to receive his reward. In addition, Jiminy Cricket is tasked with being his walking, talking conscience. However, challenges and temptation all try to derail Pinocchio from his righteous path, taking them both on a journey full of danger, bravery and action.
