1984

1984 at Hackney Town Hall

Why see 1984?

Big Brother is watching you

The chilling dystopian world of 1984 beckons in this new immersive experience, coming to the Hackney Town Hall this Autumn! Enter the ominous Ministry Of Truth, spectacularly brought to life in the wonderful art-deco building, to experience George Orwell's foreboding vision of the future. In our heavily monitored 21st century, how alarmingly close will you find it to our own reality?

First unleashed on the world in 1949, Orwell's novel is one of the most talked about novels of all time, with many of its sinister concepts and word coinages, such as "doublethink" and "room 101", finding their way into real-world parlance today. Despite being a work of fiction, its nightmarish premise disturbingly predicted certain facets of modern day life, arguably including corporate and governmental tracking, state censorship and the manipulation of truth.
