A Coincidence that Wreaks Havoc

A new revival of the 1930 comedic play written by Noel Coward, this production Private Lives starred Toby Stephens and Anna Chancellor. Both are familiar faces in the entertainment world, with Stephens having played a Bond villain on the big screen as well as various Shakespearean roles on stage and Ms. Chancellor being a a well-known theatre, TV and film actress, including the hit movie Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Private Lives was directed by Jonathan Kent, a well known director of theatre and opera. He was the director of Mozart's Don Giovanni at Glynbourne in 2010. The play opened at the Gielgud Theatre in London on the 3rd July for a two month run after which it was made into a digital production in a collaboration between Cinema Live and the Digital Theatre.

What is Private Lives about?

Elyot is honeymooning with his new wife on the French Riviera, when he unexpectedly meets Amanda who is also on honeymoon and staying in the room next door - they haven't seen each other for five years since their divorce! Realising that they are still in love with one another, they embark on a passionate affair...
