Why see The Last Five Years?
The five-star production returns
The story of a relationship told from both sides with a unique and compelling twist.
Jason Robert Brown's seminal work The Last Five Years returns to London once more in this production directed by Jonathan O'Boyle. Receiving glowing reviews before it was cut short by the first Lockdown back in March 2020, the show returns with the original central couple played by Oli Higginson and Molly Lynch, giving you the chance to enjoy the innovative musical take on modern relationships once more. Marking its first run of significant length in the capital, it will now be mounted at the Garrick Theatre from September 17th to October 17th
What is the story?
Named one of Time magazine's top shows of 2001 and featured in its movie form at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, The Last Five Years is the love story of two young New York residents, Cathy and Jamie. The musical brings audiences on a roller coaster ride of emotions as the couple fall in and out of love with one another over the course of five years.
As Cathy recounts her journey of love in reverse chronological order, Jamie starts at the beginning of their relationship, shortly after their first encounter. Despite both telling the story of their love, the pair meet and interact only once with each other in the show.
