The Gruffalo

The Gruffalo at Duchess Theatre

Why see The Gruffalo?

Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's award-winning picture book is given the musical treatment for the West End, in this magical, musical play.Youngsters will instantly recognise the characters of the charming story, making this a perfect opportunity to introduce them to theatre in a family friendly environment.

WHAT IS THE GRUFFALO ABOUT?

The plucky Mouse embarks on an adventurous journey through the deep dark wood. Along the way he encounters a myriad of hungry predators who he scares away with tall stories of the terrifying Gruffalo. But what do you think happens when he comes face to face with the very creature he supposedly conjured up in his stories?

Songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged three and up, and their adults; let their imaginations run wild! The show received warm reviews for its adaptation of the children's book, as well as a sell-out Christmas run at the Lyric Theatre.

Tall Stories is a charitable trust dedicated to staging family oriented shows, having already adapted Donaldson and Scheffler's The Snail and the Whale and Cressida Cowell's Emily Brown and the Thing into plays for the primary school age.

inventive and brilliant show

Having taken my youngest to see the likes of other shows such as Peppa Pig and various others where they simply put on a disneyland esque character costume, i was delighted to see some invention was used in this show. I loved that he got to use his imagination and i just thought the storytelling was magnificent.. Had a little trouble getting oarked near the theatre but the show itself was brilliant! I wish it had of gone on longer! ... Read more
