Barry Humphries presents an authentic evening in 1920s Berlin
Barry Humphries swaps Dame Edna's purple rinse and cat-eye glasses for a spiffy dinner suit for this fantastic trip to 1920s Berlin for an authentic cabaret experience detailing some of the divine song, dance, and gags captured at the height of the hedonistic era. Chanteuse Meow Meow and the Aurora Orchestra are on hand to provide the musical accompaniment for this internationally renowned floor show.
A passion of Humphries, the era is marked for its extremes. Whilst the Nazi movement gained a footing in the country, its capital became the go to place for the risque, with creatives and outcasts pushing against the storms outside in underground nightclubs with increasing decadence and irreverence. In addition to reminisces, anecdotes and party atmosphere, Weimar Cabaret also celebrates many of the composers and luminaries that were purposely forgotten, sidelined and murdered during the following regime.
