Rain Man
Godley... is an anguishing joy... He comes across as a being infinitely marooned in a vast loneliness that it would be harrowing to plumb

Based on the Oscar-winning screenplay by Barry Morrow and Ronald Bass, which starred Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, Rain Man has been adapted for stage by Dan Gordon. The hugely popular story considers the nature of love, connection and understanding between two brothers. Directed by Terry Johnson (The Graduate and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest), Rain Man stars Hollywood star Josh Hartnett (Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down) in his West End debut as Charlie. Charlie's brother Raymond is played by the highly acclaimed Olivier-nominated actor Adam Godley.
Rain Man follows the storyline of the 1989 movie, where Charlie Babbitt, an egotistical hustling car-dealer discovers that his recently-passed father left him none of his hefty inheritance. When he discovers that the fortune is going to Raymond, an autistic savant brother Charlie didn't know he had, he abducts Raymond from care home and takes him on a road trip in the hopes of winning over a portion of the money. Gradually, on the journey, Charlie learns to love the brother he intended to exploit.
