I can’t find a superlative to adequately describe. The greatest play ever. Beg, borrow, steal, sell your grandmother to find a ticket to see it.

Apollo Theatre lets down play and cast

What a fantastic play. My husband and I wonder how Mark Rylance can still speak and stand after his performance as Johnny every night. That said, we had front row Dress Circle seats which were woeful and a disgrace. The seats were old and hard; to see the front of the stage was impossible without leaning forward, and the acoustics were grim. We stood at the BACK of the Dress Circle, and were able to hear far better ! Daylight robbery. Truly a betrayal of a wonderful play with wonderful actors.

Best theatre I can remember, engaging at so many levels. And Mark Rylance was brilliant - physically, emotionally, and verbally. Nothing spectacular in the storyline, but extremely well presented common challenges and contradictions that would be familiar to most engaged English. Never a dull moment, left me as exhilarated as it must have left Ryland exhausted

Marvellous play

This is a play with so many levels of engagement. It's hilariously funny, while dealing with issues such as the rural poor, attitudes to gypsies and, most strikingly, ideas of Englishness and a lost legendary past. Mark Rylance gives the performance of his life, superbly supported by the rest of the cast, with the exception of Geraldine Hughes as Dawn whose west country accent is execrable. Why are they using an actress from the US? This is the second time we've seen this play and would recommend it to anyone, unless they're foolishly narrow-minded about swearing. There was a standing ovation when we saw it yesterday, as there was nearly 2 years ago. Bravo!!

Jerusalem the golden

I thoroughly enjoyed and was duly impressed by Mark Rylance` performance in Boeing Boeing but his character in Jerusalem is nothing short of absolutely staggering. So much so I felt obliged to return for a second viewing. He gives nothing short of a masterclass in the art of acting. I have already booked to see La Bete on the strength of this performance. Thank you Mr Rylance and the rest of the cast for a truly exhilarating evening.
