Strictly limited run! On Sale November 4th

Hollywood heavyweight James McAvoy is back in the West End by popular demand as he returns to star in Jamie Lloyd's (Betrayal, The Ruling Class) revival of Edmond Rostand's 1897 play, Cyrano de Bergerac. Adapted by Martin Crimp, Cyrano de Bergerac follows a swashbuckling soldier whose quest for true love makes him confront his biggest insecurity... his rather larger nose.

A story about the power of love and the art of wordplay, Edmond Rostand's original Cyrano de Bergerac was famed for featuring some of the theatre's most ingenious lines. An ever-enduring masterpiece, don't miss your chance to see James McAvoy as he makes his West End return!

JAMES MCAVOY

A firm block-buster favourite for his starring roles in X-Men, Atonement, Split plus many many more (the list really does go on), McAvoy was last seen in the West End in 2015's The Ruling Class, also directed by Lloyd, at the Trafalgar Studios. McAvoy's stirring performance as Jack Gurney earned the star his second Olivier Award nomination for Best Actor and the Evening Standard award for Best Actor. McAvoy's other West End credits include his Olivier Award-nominated turn as Macbeth in 2013 Trafalgar Studios production and Three Days of Rain at the Apollo Theatre, for which he gained his first Olivier Award nomination in 2009.

Absolutely loved it

James McAvoy was just brilliant. The story line was clever, engaging, warm and funny. The buzz from the audience was incredible. I haven’t seen anything quite like it and I have seen a lot of productions. ... Read more

Not what I was expecting

If you go expecting doublet and hose, swashbuckling swordfighting, then you will be disappointed. A modern reworking of a classic story but one that works, in my opinion, if you're prepared to cast aside any previous knowledge of this story. An incredible, mesmerising five star performance by the wonderful James McEvoy. The play is worth seeing for this performance alone. Subtle, sensitive and angry, all at the same time. The rest of the cast do an admirable job of bringing this story of love, loss and courage to life. ... Read more

Highly recommend

James McAvoy was mesmerising and was ably supported by a brilliant cast. I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy the rapping (I’m getting on a bit) but I was gripped from the start. The words were wonderful and delivered with such energy, providing moments of humour, bitterness, sweet gentleness and rage. I wouldn’t take children as it is a long play but did I say James McAvoy was mesmerising? ... Read more
