Waitress at Adelphi Theatre

Why see Waitress?

If Only life were as easy as pie

Waving goodbye to Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel as they play their final performance as Jenna and Dr. Pomatter on the 14th of March.

Broadway's sweetest treat arrives, bringing its delicious confection of peppy songs, romance, and dramedy to the Adelphi Theatre this spring. Adapted from the beloved 2007 indie film by Adrienne Shelly and with an all-female creative team led by a bubbly pop score from singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, it's a life-affirming feel-good hit - the perfect thing to chase the winter cobwebs away. If you loved Beautiful - The Carole King Musical, you're certain to love Waitress!

Nominated for two Olivier Awards, including Best New Musical and Best Original Score!

Opening across the pond in 2016, the show has proved a huge hit with audiences and was nominated for four Tony Awards in 2016 before heading out on a huge national tour.

What is the story of Waitress?

Suffocated by both the small Southern town where she lives, and her controlling husband Earl, Jenna longs for escape. Her only solace comes from working in the local diner, where she can practice her passion for baking. Jenna's crumbly pastries and crinkly crusts are renowned the town over, and by a stroke of luck, they might just offer her an escape route! A pie-baking contest is announced in a nearby town, with a potentially life-changing cash prize for first place. Jenna realises this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity and is determined to grab it with both hands!

Hats off to the cast of this production, mainly understudies I believe, they were all brilliant especially Matt Willis(what a revelation)they all worked so hard to make the show fun,my only difficulty was the amplification of the band, made it hard to catch every word which is essential if like my friend and I its first time of seeing waitress, that said despite the obvious problems ie start delay,it was a great afternoon at the theatre. ...
