Our review of La Soiree
Christmas Comes Early At La Soiree

Vibrant, Hilarious, Exciting
The entire show is an assault on the senses, and will make you leave the Aldwych with a bubble of giddiness hanging over your head.
Cabaret gets festive this year with La Soiree having its first run in London's West End. Already a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, La Soiree have taken their high octane Cabaret/Cirque stage show across the globe and have become a well loved night out for audiences in Paris, Sydney and New York.
Having not experienced a cabaret or cirque performance before I was not sure what to expect when I first stepped through the doors of the newly renovated Aldwych Theatre on Monday night. What took place before me was a vibrant, hilarious and in some places down-right raunchy show and I was thrown into the abyss that La Soiree.
La Soiree, taking its name from the literal definition of 'Party', is filled to the brim with acrobatics, comedy duos and death defying stunts which will leave you in awe and sometimes hiding behind your hands! The entire show is an assault on the senses, and will make you leave the Aldwych with a bubble of giddiness hanging over your head.
But, it is safe to say that La Soiree is not something you want to take your Grandma too (unless she's into that sort of thing) as there are some moments that will make your toes curl and snort in embarrassed laughter. Comedy performances from Amy G and Daredevil Chicken provided these along with some quite crude moments that had the audience guffawing at their silly yet slightly gross tricks, which unfortunately became a bit too much near the end, however, the rest of the audience was lapping it up!
A range of acrobats provided a heart-in-your-mouth experience with acts like Fancy Chance and The Chilly Brothers performing feats of great physical strength, whilst also creating beautiful and awe-inspiring sequences which left the audience gagging for more.
Although not entirely in my comfort zone, I could certainly see why La Soiree has been such a dominant force on the entertainment circuit! No matter if you're young (17+) or old, rich or poor you can come together and enjoy a night that will make you leave your inhibitions at the door.
Were there some parts a bit too much? Probably. Did the show provide a great night out? Definitely!
