Sounds and Sorcery Fantasia
Loved the original, lot of work has gone to this but missed Micky mouse, good idea but not quite what we expected, could have done without the dancers and just shown the film with additions, disappointed.
Waste of time, waste of money
Does not even deserve 1 star; so that is where the Poundland lights ended up! Smells of mildew and worse. No connection to Fantasia at all. A totally disappointing experience, which should be closed down on health and safety grounds never mind under the Trades Description Act.
No Disney despite plastering it over their ads -NOT FOR KIDS
I, like many others, have been fooled into believing this is a physical representation of Disney's Fantasia brought to stage in an immersive theatre platform. The reality is a number of Windows XP screensaver-esque projections, flashing lights, papermache sets and occasionally a bit of bizzare interpretive dance in dark hot rooms. THERE IS NO HINT OF DISNEY. As an ex-disney employee myself I found it embarrassing this was even slightly linked to the brand. The sales team have abused the brand name to attract an audience and it has clearly worked judging by the number of scared/ bored children present. Whats worse the wireless headphones provided were often skipping making the whole purpose of them in the experience useless and ruining any chance of immersion. This cheaply made and rushed together piece of 'theatre' set me back £75 for two people and that was a cheap Sunday ticket. I couldn't wait to leave and wouldn't recommend it to anyone - especially not children!!
A bit rubbish
I'm glad I came on one of the first nights when tickets were a bit cheaper than the outrageous full price. Clearly a lot of work had gone into this, just not a lot of thought. The 'magic' of the film was absent, replaced with wireless headphones which were constantly cutting out, doors marked 'Staff Only', and the sensation that you were just wandering around The Vaults as on any other night, except with a few papier-mâché style decorations stuck about and the occasional bizarre projection which didn't contribute to any perceptible narrative. The only redeeming feature was the bar we were ushered into after the main event, which contained an impressive large-scale zoetrope from Gregory Barsamian and an interactive composing tool called the Audio Visual Music Machine. The impression however was that these installations were self-consciously included as an afterthought to try and placate those who might otherwise be drafting an email demanding a refund by this point in the evening.
Shockingly poor
I expected so much more from this. I see Alice in wonderland last year which was fantastic and being a Disney production thought this would be even better. Wrong. Very wrong. The headphones hardly worked. The smell is awful. The set is cheap and poorly made. I was embarrassed for the actors too. Honestly it isn’t worth it. My son semi enjoyed it but mostly he says that to pacify me.
Amateur and awful production
I can’t believe Disney would be associated with this. My 12 year old drama group produced better productions than this. It was trying to be arty but the end result is something that is simply boring, surrounded by plastic rocks, plastic flowers and awful choreography. I would have been equally unhappy with the experience if this had been free - stay away - colossal waste of money.
