What a revelation. This knocks the socks off most of the musicals currently running. Apart from the splendid direction and overall quality of the individual performances, the real revelation was the quality of the lyrics and the music, with outstanding musical arrangements. Having musicians often on the stage was a brilliant device. What a contrast to the banal lyrics and music of so many current musicals. A moving and memorable evening.
