Amazing

It was amazing. Nearly 3 hours and I didn't feel a moment that it was too much. The audience was spontaneously laughing all the time. It felt that everyone in the theatre enjoyed it. I was so confused with all those bad critics. After thinking about it, I realised that what the play did was that it raised a mirror to all those people who think that when women are expressing a different opinion are always overdramatic, or oversensitive or it is their hormones, not their minds that drives them. Well, no, women have brains. And opinions. And what you didn't like when you watched this play was your reflection in that mirror. And indeed, nothing really changed after #metoo era for women in their homes and works. The production was also great. The casting was amazing, as expected. I especially liked Chris, she was filling the stage with her presence even on her silent moments.

This was brilliant

The reviewers didn’t get it. My friend and I hadn’t seen a play that resonated so profoundly on a variety of levels in memory. So pleased I saw it.

BRILLIANT & AHEAD OF ITS TIME

One of the most refreshing, bold, hilarious, moving new plays to hit the West End in a long, long time. Feels like an instant classic. It must have really touched a nerve with establishment critics and they clearly haven’t bothered to notice the rollicking good time the audience is having throughout. Critics keep propping up the white male writers while finding every opportunity to tear down the female writers, assuming they don’t know what they’re doing. This playwright knows exactly what she’s doing so brilliantly and it’s clearly a threat to the patriarchal status quo.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it last night. Meaningful and funny with some great performances. Would recommend.

Disregard these 5 ★ reviews which appear at the top of this list, straining to show their feminist credentials. The 1 ★ ones lower down are more accurate. The play still needs a rewrite. Despite the great casting, they have no chance with a play that still looks like a first draft, has no strength of tone, character or narrative. My companion left at the interval but I stuck it out to its final fade-out, not even a satisfactory finish. Occasionally it's funny in a silly sort of way, but despite toying with feminist thinking it lacks conviction as if apologising for speaking out. I took a group of mostly women and, to be fair, the response was as split as Brexit. For me, #NotMeToo.

This play is brilliant on many levels

This is the best dramatisation of the complex emotions women feel after marriage and having children. That feeling of being trapped even when on the surface your life is enviable. Also how hard it is to have it all..the career and the baby, constantly feeling torn and tired. And how much easier it is for men that just don’t get us, and put our emotions down to being ‘crazy’. I loved it. Deep deep messages done in an entertaining way. I laughed, gasped, sympathises. Left thoroughly entertained. All three central women in this were fabulous in every way. Ignore the critics. You are amazing.
