Entertaining
What a great entertainment. Factual, funny, cleaver, entertaining, the audience loved it & so did I. If you liked watching the old slapstick comedy of Charlie, Laurel & Hardy, Buster & Keystone Cops you should enjoy this production which tells the story of Charlie & Laurel's early years with Fred Karno from 1910 to Fred's eventual bankruptcy in 1949. There is humour & pathos & skill aplenty.
Enjoyable
The whole family thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Full credit to the production and production staff. Absolutely fabulous. This is a relatively lighthearted look at a little piece of embossed history. Absolutely recommend for a Monday night either after work or after a hard day being a tourist. Lovely atmosphere in the theatre. Well done all.
Excellent!
I hoped that the show would be good but it was much better than that. Only 8 cast members and they were brilliant. Mixture of serious and pantomime, very entertaining. Maybe the trapeze artist could stick to her? other roles. Well done Jon Conway and co.
Brilliant
Absolutely loved the show. Far exceeded our expectations. A happy, joyful night out. The cast, in particular Jordan Conway, were so full of energy. As a result of enjoying the show so much, we’ve booked tickets for the Peter Pan Arena tour in Birmingham.
LOVED IT!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!
I saw Laurel & Chaplin: The Feud and it was INCREDIBLE!!!! Jordan Conway was sensational as Charlie Chaplin. His performance was ABSOLUTELY the BEST and he was the one that stood out for me the most in the show. Matt Knight was amazing as well but as Stan Laurel. The rest of the cast were brilliant as well. I think if Jordan Conway does win an award for Best Actor in a Comedy Play I will be MEGA happy for him if he does win it because he deserves it. And the show itself I absolutely LOVED!!!!! There was nothing wrong with the show. It was just perfect. Jordan is the one to look out for if you want some fresh new talent for a comedy show that is similar to Laurel & Chaplin: The Feud. And if you wanted someone like Jordan Conway add him as the lead role. I highly recommend Laurel & Chaplin: The Feud because it was just OUTSTANDING!!!!! It deserves an award for Best Comedy Show of the Year. It was my favourite show this year and it is at the top of my favourite shows list at Number 1.
"I've never directed before"
Said the co-director, Michael Barrymore in an interview about his involvement in "The Feud". This becomes pretty obvious about 10 minutes in. The show sadly doesn't really make up for the lack of direction with any real attempt to tackle the subject matter with any kind of plot. A selection of panto set pieces and shop bought magic tricks interspersed with a clown dangling off a hoop, doesn't really tell the tale of Laurel and Chaplin's relationship, and the post interval audience/stooge routine is so chaotic it will leave you wondering what was in your ice cream. If you enjoy silent cameo appearances from genuine Z list celebrities "found" in the audience, Stan Laurel break dancing whilst Chaplin wears a Smiffys bee costume, and a good solid helping of dangling clown. This is the show for you. For the story of Laurel and Chaplin, try the internet. Comfy seats, nice loos, free wordsearch on the proscenium.
