Already seen Flare Path twice - 1st preview and also the Opening night, and I'll definitely be going again! Really enjoyed this perfectly cast, well-acted production. I found it gripping, humorous and very emotional at times. Sheridan Smith is particularly good as the former barmaid, now a Countess through marriage, and her scene with James Purefoy in which he translates a letter from her husband, is one of the highlights of the play for me. Another triumph for Sir Trevor Nunn!

the daly family went to see flare path last night 5/03/11 and would highly recommend this superb play with an amazing cast,as the play unfolds it is a poignant tale of love,courage and honour,of how so many things were endured by those so young,Sienna Miller really plays the part of Mrs Graham so profoundly, the Countess played by Sheridon Smith is a great surprise "me ducks" and Emma Handy who plays Maudie...,in fact it is one of the few plays i have seen that has you totally involved with each of the characters just like reading a fantastic book that you can't put down you will find yourself laughing and crying with flare path which isn't surprising and Winston Churchill's words to the cast in 1943 must ring true for the cast of 2011"I was very moved by this play.It is a masterpiece of understatement.But we are very good at that,aren't we" not a surprise at all under the direction of Trevor Nunn.These young men were very brave and this play is a MUST see The Daly Family.

The wife was overjoyed I had taken her. A period play with British understatement and stiff upper lip. Hidden emotions covered up by servicemen just doing their job. Put the effort in and empathize with each of the characters and you will be laughing, crying and silent. How often did this play take place throughout the last war. Sheridan Smith was my star.

A must see for all theatre lovers, Trevor Nunn has perfected Terrance Rattigan's 1941 play. An amazing cast, with Sheridan Smith bringing both a humour and emotional punch that confirms her place her as one of the West End's best. Strong performances from all members of the company, especially Harry Hadden-Paton and Sienna Miller, along with a story so real you feel as though you are on the sofa with them whilst it is unraveling around you. If you don't already have tickets, get them now, as this will surely be one of "the" productions of the year.

At random I decided to see a show while on vacation. I choose "Flare Path" because I happened to be walking by the theater and noticed the cast on the posters. I knew nothing about the story. I'm happy to say I loved it from beginning to end. Sheridan Smith stole the show, as well I was very impressed with Sienna Miller. A must see!

If you're looking for a 70-year-old play about the British in WWII, then you won't be disappointed. This has pathos and also comedy, and is very well acted by the supporting cast but the leads (James Purefoy, Sienna Miller) and their central love story leave a bit of a vacuum. It's at its strongest with the story of the bomber crew and their wives, and what they all must face each night, but even that suffers by being all too familiar to a modern audience through countless subsequent dramas and documentaries. Despite the love triangle, there is little moral ambiguity, so you are left with an old-fashioned evening of 'keep calm and carry on'... for 2 hours and 45 minutes. Nice West End show but better drama, for better value, to be had elsewhere.
