Saw this tonight knowing nothing about it, we had a free evening, an impulse and this was what was on - we were so lucky, it was absolutely phenomenal, we were really blown away by it. The writing was very good with its finger very much on the zeitgeist and all the performances were too but we agreed that Leah Harvey was just amazing - her Emilia was so well-rounded, that she raised the stakes of the whole play. We had a fabulous evening and, if audience reaction was anything to go by, so did everyone else in the Globe. Highly recommended.

If you have never been to the Globe Theatre make this play your introduction. A stunning ensemble piece, beautifully staged. It is intelligent, funny, relevant and inspiring. And if you know nothing about Emilia Bassano or William Shakespeare it really doesn't matter; go along and enjoy this wonderful production. You'll want to go again!

What a banal experience I had this evening. A shamefully simplistic and corny exploitation of a a strong, intelligent woman. I feel certain Emilia would have loathed the screeching pontificating spread through this play - the insult to her reputation would have been considerably less if they had not included her beautiful poetry. What a disappointment.
