Why You Should See Lily Collins in Barcelona

Author KevinKevin, October 31st, 2024

How does one stop obsessing over Lily Collins? They don't, they go to see Barcelona!

Lily Collins is all about bringing the drama. If she's not styling it up as a marketing exec in Paris, she's hunting down demons. Now, she's making her West End debut alongside Money Heist star lvaro Morte in this new play by US playwright Bess Wohl, whose Camp Siegfried made waves at the Old Vic.

1. It's Just The Beginning

This isn't the Emily in Paris chanteuses first West End rodeo, it's also the debut for the actor behind the mastermind of the Royal Mint heist in Money Heist. Both will be performing for London audiences for the first time. So, catch them whilst you can!

2. The Storyline

Collins is swapping the streets of Paris for those of Barcelona in what will be a thrilling, late-night adventure, where a one-night stand turns into an unpredictable, dangerous encounter. This time, she plays an American tourist who gets more than she bargained for after going home with a charming local, played by lvaro Morte. There are many interesting directions that this could go in.

3. The Director

This production is in the hands of visionary Lynette Linton, but what do we know about her? Linton leads the Bush Theatre and often focuses on untold stories, particularly from underrepresented communities. Her production Sweat won the Olivier Award for Best New Play. She knows how to use a sharp social commentary eye, which makes total sense, given Barcelona's political and social themes.

4. It's A Limited Run

Will they extend? Who knows, but don't miss your chance to see this play whilst it's running for just 12 weeks at the Duke of York's Theatre in London! Catch Collin's before she heads on back over to the Eiffel Tower!

5. A Bess Wohl Number

This gripping two-hander comes from Bess Wohl. If you don't know her, Wohl is celebrated for her rich, character-driven stories that are often centered around human relationships. Plays like Camp Siegfried and Small Mouth Sounds show her skill at peeling back the layers of everyday life to reveal the hidden struggles that we all face and are sometimes too ashamed to admit.
