Aspects Of Love

Aspects Of Love at Menier Chocolate Factory

Why see Aspects Of Love?

Based on David Garnett's novel, Aspects Of Love tells a story of passion, love and loss across three generations of a family and their companions, set against the background of 1940s France and Italy.

It centres on Alex Dillingham, a young student travelling through France, who falls in love with the alluring actress Rose Vibert. As the pair embark on a passionate affair, the unexpected arrival of Alex's uncle changes their lives forever.

Nunn returns to the Chocolate Factory after his success with A Little Night Music last year. The former Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre has a weighty and varied cannon of work that encompasses musicals, new plays and classics by everyone from Shakespeare to Tom Stoppard and Lloyd Webber, not forgetting the West End's longest-running musical, Les Miserables.

In addition to Aspects Of Love, Nunn has directed the premiere productions of Lloyd Webber's Cats, Starlight Express, Sunset Boulevard and The Woman In White.

Wondreful production, first class performances!

My first visit to the Chocolate Factory, and what a revelation! From start to finish the evening was superb - I recommend having drinks and dinner in the restaurant beforehand as the food was nothing short of gourmet, and the service outstanding and just so friendly. Really they can't do enough for you. A nice touch was West End 'legend' Dave Willetts coming over to our table and saying hello to everyone. This kinda sums up the overall friendliness and intimacy of the place. The seating is right on the stage, and being in Row A was amazing - right in front of the actors! For a small venue putting on a big West End show it couldn't have been easy, but they achieved it superbly. The staging, performances and orchestra were first class - you were drawn into the story right from the start. Katherine Kingsley as Rose must surely be the find of the West End, having come straight from '39 Steps' to Aspects, and as 'Rose' she's flawless. Seriously - see it while you can! ... Read more
