A Kind of People

A Kind of People at Jerwood Theatre Downstairs

Why see A Kind of People?

A Modern Portrait Of British Life

Emerging British Sikh writer Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti has received much critical acclaim for her contributions to stage, screen and theatre, which also include a previous stint at the Royal Court with heartwarming family dramedy Khandan. Bhatti returns to the London theatre with a brand new work, this time exploring the colourful shades of a contemporary multicultural British community.

A Kind Of People takes place on a single night, during which a house party brings together a group of vastly different individuals. There's longterm couple Gary and Nicky, school sweethearts looking to get out of their council flat if Gary can and a promotion at work. Anjum and Mo are high achievers, but are committed to their goals at any cost. Gary's sister Karen cares less about fighting for a cause, she just wants to live her best life, while the energetic, free-spirited Vicoria, just wants to dance with someone. When the odds are against you, even the most normal things seem impossible...
